About The Role

The warehouse at Spearhead is critical to the smooth running of our business - ensuring that stock is accurately received, stored, controlled, and dispatched to support our internal teams and customers across the UK. The Stock Controller will take full responsibility and accountability for the stock control area, overseeing stock accuracy, reporting, and warehouse processes while leading and developing a small team of stock control operatives.

You’ll bring together operational leadership, team management, and analytical insight to maintain high stock standards, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the warehouse operates efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage and support a team of stock control operatives.
  • Allocate tasks, provide day-to-day guidance, and manage team performance.
  • Lead team meetings, training, and reviews to promote accountability and engagement.
  • Support staff development through coaching and clear pathways for growth.
  • Operations & Inventory Management
  • Take full responsibility for stock control, including accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of all stock movements.
  • Analyse stock data, monitor trends, and make recommendations to optimise efficiency.
  • Oversee stock rotation (FIFO), slow-moving items, and stock locations to maximise space and workflow.
  • Manage incoming goods, returns, damaged stock, and special items, ensuring correct allocation, labelling, and booking into the system.
  • Ensure stock is safely stored, tidy, and maintained to a consistently high standard.
  • Oversee stock at third-party warehouses where applicable.
  • Specials, Tidiness & H&S
  • Process and manage specials stock, ensuring items are booked in, allocated, and labelled for accurate picking, and prevent unnecessary build-up.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe warehouse environment with consistent housekeeping standards.
  • Carry out routine daily, monthly, and annual Health & Safety checks as required by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Collaboration & Support
  • Work closely with purchasing, sales, and operational teams to ensure smooth stock flow.
  • Provide regular stock reports and updates to the Warehouse Manager to support operational planning and decision-making.
  • Assist with Goods In/Out processes or order picking during busy periods as needed.
