Infection Control

An outbreak of an infection in the Care Home can be difficult and time consuming to manage, but the Platinum Plan works to make it simple and cost effective. Our Sporicidal Disinfectant kills up to 99.999% of bacteria, germs and spores, and can be used on a variety of hard and soft surfaces. Our range of personal protective equipment and colour coded cleaning products, such as the Nitrile Blue Powder Free Gloves and the Standard Dura Cloth, provides all the disposables required for managing an outbreak. All our non-disposable equipment is available in yellow, clearly demarking it as for Infection Control use.

Cleaning Tips from the Platinum Plan!

  • Enchanced cleaning is required when a resident is suspect to, or has, a known infection such as Clostidium Difficile. This is because some micro-organisms are able to survive in the environment for long periods, despite regular thorough cleaning.
  • Some germs are resistant to many antibacterial disinfectants. A sporicidal disinfectant, such as Sporidical Disinfectant must be used in cases of confirmed or suspected infection as this is the most effective disinfectant within the range.
  • Clostridium Difficile spores are not killed by alcohol hand rubs. In cases where this infection is present, hands should be washed with liquid soap and warm water after contact with the resident and prior to leaving the resident's room.
  • MRSA is usually spread from person to person by direct skin contact or by contaminated surfaces.
  • The four main routes of infection transmission are hands, contact with infected residents, contact with contaminated surfaces, and contact with contaminated equipment.
